Gary Lineker reacts to amazing photo of Raphinha with Leeds United fans

Gary Lineker loved that Raphinha climbed into the stands to celebrate with Leeds fans after they picked up a win over Brentford to stay in the Premier League.

The Brazilian scored a penalty which ultimately would have earned the Whites their Premier League status for next season, before Jack Harrison sealed the win in stoppage time.

After the game he moved into the stands to celebrate with his family and the travelling fans, which produced one of the photos of the season of everyone celebrating together.

After recent problems in English football with pitch invasions and fans running onto the field of play at the final whistle, Lineker took to his official Twitter account to make a witty joke.

“We’ve got to do something about players invading the stands,” he said, following it up with a laughing emoji.

Raphinha is expected to leave the club this summer after heavy interest from several clubs, including Barcelona, and this may have been the perfect goodbye.

Memories

Raphinha has spent two seasons at Elland Road, and regardless of whether he leaves or stays this summer he will be remembered fondly by all Leeds fans for his time at the club.

The 25-year-old has been excellent across his two seasons and has consistently proven to be a player that can be trusted to produce on the biggest moments and the biggest stages.

His goals and assists have been invaluable, and can’t have been summed up any better than him winning the penalty with great skill before he scored it to earn the club their status for next year.

He never downed tools, although he endured a tough period of form, and never moaned when his position was shifted around in the final weeks of the season.

He’ll now either stay at the club for another year, or net the club a massive fee to help them rebuild and go and prosper elsewhere. Regardless of what happens, he’ll be loved at Elland Road no matter what.
