Gary Lineker raves about Kalvin Phillips as Leeds United ace wins England award
Gary Lineker has hailed Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips after a video clip emerged of the Leeds United midfielder winning England’s player of the year award.
West Ham’s Rice partnered Phillips in England’s midfield at the European Championships in the summer and he was the man tasked with presenting the award to Leeds’ superstar.
It’s a heartwarming clip to watch with two players showing their likeable personalities.
In response to the video clip, Match of the Day host and ex-England striker Lineker took to his personal Twitter account to pay tribute to the midfield duo.
“Lovely lads. Tremendous players,” he said.

What else is there to say about Phillips that hasn’t already been said?
Not only is he a fantastic player and was one of the best players at the Euros in the summer as England made the final, but he’s also such a humble, shy and down-to-earth guy.
England and Leeds are so lucky to have him.
Marcelo Bielsa and Gareth Southgate have done absolute wonders for this young man while West Ham ace Rice is also seemingly having an impact.
Rice comes across the kind of guy who could be West Ham and England captain in the future and Phillips is bound to grow while playing alongside player and a person such as that.
But the most credit goes to Phillips himself because he’s the one who’s done the graft and has transformed himself from an average attacking midfielder for a mid-table Championship team to a starting midfielder for England and for Leeds in the Premier League.
Well done, Kalvin. Your award is 100 per cent deserved.
