Gary Lineker ‘loves’ what Jack Harrison did for Leeds United, Ian Wright ‘delighted’ after win
Gary Lineker was in awe of Jack Harrison’s goal for Leeds United in the win over Watford, while Ian Wright was “delighted” for the team and the manager.
The Whites eventually defeated the Hornets 3-0 in a scrappy game at Vicarage Road, with goals from Raphinha, Rodrigo and Harrison the only stand-out moments of real quality.
And the pair of former England strikers expressed their admiration for the level of goal-scoring ability on show from United after the game, particularly of the angled third that darted inside the far post from the edge of the area.

Speaking on Match of the Day after the game (9 April) host Lineker said: “There’s been an improvement up front hasn’t there.”
Wright agreed: “Yeah there has. I’m delighted for Leeds. I’m delighted for Jesse Marsch, he brings a nice enthusiasm.
“But what it is, someone like Rodrigo who I really liked… he just plays off the front man… he’s got three in four now.
“And this one from Harrison.”
Lineker interjected on the goal that was captured perfectly by the camera angle: “I love this strike.”
Before Wright continued: “This is brilliant. This is a forward in great form, very confident. That’s three successive goals in three games. First time he’s done that in his career.”
Driving force
Three points are what really matters, but three goals glossed over a slightly ragged performance.
However the attacking prowess cannot be undermined by what was happening behind them, as long-range strikes from Brazilian Raphinha and Englishman Harrison were excellent.
Rodrigo’s second was arguably the most important of the lot, as he was alive to capitalise on a mistake at the back and kill off the home side’s resistance.

Marsch has things to work on with the squad after the win, which really should have been more comfortable against a side looking likely to be relegated.
But the points that helps the side avoid the same fate are the main take-away.
And after the season that the club has had, a strong score line even where they didn’t play well is not to be sniffed at.
