‘Well…’ – Gary Lineker delivers instant reaction after incredible Leeds win v Man City
Gary Lineker was full of praise for Leeds United after the Whites earned a memorable win at Manchester City.
It was a real smash and grab in the end but Leeds displayed every positive aspect of their game in order to win the three points.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side posed a threat in the first half before Liam Cooper’s red card changed the game and City found a way back into the match.
Stuart Dallas grabbed a last-gasp winner – his second of the match – and left Lineker in awe of the Whites.
Upon the full-time whistle he tweeted, “Well, @LUFC really have made an impact this season.”
Huge impact
Leeds have proven once and for all that we deserve a place in the top-half of the Premier League.
All season long our open style of play has been a target for critics but on Saturday we proved we can compete with one of the best clubs in Europe.
Raphinha and Patrick Bamford posed problems in the first half but when we needed to we defended as a team.
Kalvin Phillips put in a performance to remember and we then displayed the character to get another goal to win the game.
Raphinha could have scored moments before, too – not many teams would have displayed the kind of ambition we showed.
Also, this victory sets us up perfectly for next season.
Now we know for certain we can beat any side in this division on our day, and that is with a team that played in the Championship last season, with a couple of exceptions.
It is good to see Lineker taking notice – he surely will not be the only one after this performance.
