Gabby Agbonlahor tears Leeds United players to shreds after 6-1 drubbing v Liverpool at Elland Road
Gabby Agbonlahor has branded the Leeds United players a “disgrace” after they were thumped 6-1 by Liverpool at Elland Road on Monday (17 April).
Javi Gracia’s side conceded five goals for the second consecutive match at Elland Road just eight days after the equally dismal 5-1 defeat to Crystal Palace in West Yorkshire.
Luis Sinisterra’s early second-half strike wasn’t enough to trouble a rampant Reds side, with goals from Cody Gakpo, Mo Salah, Diego Jota and Darwin Nunez leaving the Whites just two points above the relegation zone with seven games of their season remaining.

Taking to Twitter during the latter stages of the game, Agbonlahor tore the Leeds players to shreds in a damning assessment of their performance, making a sarcastic dig at Elland Road’s “fortress” status in the process.
“Leeds players are a disgrace,” he wrote.
“Fans deserve better. What happened to Elland Road being a fortress.”
Harsh truths
Although Agbonlahor does enjoy mocking Leeds and often going over the top in his assessment of the club’s performances, he isn’t far off the mark here.
Leeds were quite simply horrendous in the second half of this encounter at Elland Road, and it is yet another reminder of just how troubling their current relegation predicament is.
Every time Liverpool got on the ball in the final third, it looked like they would score, with Pascal Struijk and Junior Firpo culpable of some shocking performances.
How Leeds try to recover from this drubbing will be interesting to see.
Eleven goals conceded at Elland Road within eight days is embarrassing, and the Whites now officially possess the worst defence in the Premier League.
With the club still two points outside the relegation zone, all is certainly not over, but this was an extremely worrying performance.
A quick bounce back is imperative over the coming week, with crunch clashes against Fulham, Leicester City and Bournemouth quickly appearing on the horizon.
In other Leeds United news, even pundits who like nothing more than to wind up the club’s fans couldn’t understand how the goal was allowed.
