Gabby Agbonlahor tears into Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa on talkSPORT
Gabby Agbonlahor has called for Leeds United to replace Marcelo Bielsa after the Whites lost 4-1 to Arsenal.
Speaking on talkSPORT after the game [18 December], the former Aston Villa striker turned pundit tore into the Argentine for his style of play.
He also revealed that he could see Leeds going down if they don’t act soon and get rid of Bielsa.
He said: “For me, I would change Bielsa. The way they are playing at the moment, it’s very stubborn coaching.
“You are playing against big teams, world-class players, and you are going toe-to-toe. You can’t do that in the Premier League.
“I’d change it and get someone in who can keep Leeds United up now. Burnley have got three games in hand and are five points behind them.
“They are playing with fire, playing with relegation. If they did go down, it might take them another 16 years to get back up.”
Brutal from Agbonlahor.
This is a brutal assessment of Bielsa at Leeds, and it pretty much ignores the good work that the Argentine has done as well as the club’s ridiculous injury situation.
The Whites have so many players out and were forced to name a 15-year-old on the bench last night.
Now, you could argue that against both Manchester City and an in-form Arsenal side, the Whites should have been a bit more conservative.
However, if they played like that without several key defenders and Kalvin Phillips, you could say that they were just waiting to be beaten.
That might have helped their goal difference, though, which has been battered.
However, this is just a tough patch for the Whites and the best man to get them out of it is Bielsa.
He has worked miracles with this squad in the past, and he can do it again with a little bit of support in the transfer market.
