Gabby Agbonlahor believes Leeds United are set to be frustrated by missing out on automatic promotion to Ipswich Town.

Recent form at Elland Road has seen Leeds slip out of the top two spots, losing three of their last five matches while Ipswich claimed a vital victory over Coventry City on Tuesday 30 April.

Ahead of the final day of the Championship season, the Whites are three points behind Ipswich and are preparing to face Southampton at Elland Road on Saturday 4 May.

Speaking live via talkSPORT on Thursday [2 April, 9:55am], Agbonlahor said: "If you look at the wages, Leeds have one of the highest in the league and have star players there like Summerville. Gnonto's a good player and Bamford's still there.

"There's James and Kamara, so it's a squad of players that should have got automatic promotion. I do think they'll miss out because Ipswich only need a point against Huddersfield.

"Leeds then need to look to get it done in the play-offs. It's one of those annoying ones when you miss out by one point."

Leeds United must come to terms with Championship play-offs

While Daniel Farke has done a good job at Elland Road this season on the whole, it seems that Leeds are set to narrowly miss out on automatic promotion after a damaging run of results.

With losses to Coventry, Blackburn Rovers and QPR in recent weeks, they have slipped out of the top two spots and will face an in-form Saints side on the last day.

Of course, the club will be hoping that Ipswich slip up at Portman Road on Saturday, though this is highly unlikely as they are set to face a deflated Huddersfield Town side, who will need to win and better their goal difference by 16 in order to survive relegation.

Considering the number of talents at Elland Road this season, including the likes of Summerville, Georginio Rutter, Ethan Ampadu and Archie Gray, Leeds should be confident if they are to go into the play-offs.

However, the play-offs can promise chaos and uncertainty, and the likes of Southampton, Norwich City, West Brom and Hull City will be fighting for their lives, which will concern the Whites.
