Gabby Agbonlahor says what Leeds players have done for Daniel Farke as sack news continues

Gabby Agbonlahor was impressed by the fight that Leeds United displayed in their loss to Manchester City on Saturday.

Leeds were beaten 3-2 by Manchester City after a cruel end to the game saw Phil Foden’s late strike cancel out the Whites’ second-half comeback.

Daniel Farke has been under increasing pressure at LS11, and a result against Man City may have been seen as a turning point.

Despite the loss, Leeds still put in a courageous performance, and Agbonlahor has explained the “confidence” that the Peacocks now need to harness moving forward.

Gabby Agbonlahor says Leeds are fighting for Daniel Farke

Leeds are in a relegation battle, and Farke was always going to be up against it this season.

The German head coach has contributed to two Premier League relegations during his time at Norwich City, and there have been concerns over his ability to keep the Whites afloat.

However, Leeds left it all out there at the Etihad Stadium and may have even been unlucky not to get a win against Pep Guardiola’s side.

While speaking live on talkSPORT on Monday morning, Agbonlahor outlined a key takeaway from the game, which shows that Farke and the Whites can still be successful this campaign.

Agbonlahor said: “I think Leeds deserve some praise, because Daniel Farke is under pressure and those players showed they’re still with the manager, they’re fighting for the manager.

“Leeds can take a lot of confidence from that performance.”

Now, Leeds need to build on the positives and enter a crucial winter period.

Farke deserves until January

The Whites face Chelsea and Liverpool next in the league, as the fixtures don’t let up for Farke’s side.

After the conclusion of this weekend, Leeds are still tied with West Ham on 11 points, with the Hammers just above the relegation zone due to goal difference.

West Ham face tough away games at Manchester United and Brighton, while Leeds will hope the Irons drop points before easier fixtures.

January could be one of the most important months in recent history at Leeds, but the signs are there that Farke can still turn things around.

He needs to show Paraag Marathe that he is the man to back in the long term.
