Gabby Agbonlahor fails to hype up Marcelo Bielsa over Dean Smith
Gabby Agbonlahor has failed to hype up Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa over Dean Smith and Aston Villa.
Darren Ambrose labelled Smith a “poor man’s” Bielsa, and that appeared to get Agbonlahor riled up and flustered.
It ended with the former Villa man throwing his cue card on the floor and laughing, so it was all light-hearted in the end.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor was challenged to fight the corner of Bielsa despite his Villa allegiances.
“Dean Smith is a poor man’s Marcelo Bielsa,” he laughed.
“Dean Smith and Marcelo Bielsa for me are two great managers, since Smith has gone to Aston Villa, he’s done a great job, got them promoted in his first season.
“Bielsa has done a great job at Leeds, I would say they’re both great managers and this has got to get thrown.”
Can’t help himself.
Agbonlahor being told to big up Bielsa is something that he simply cannot do, he has proven that.
Whenever a chance comes up for him to throw a dig at the Whites and El Loco, he grasps it with both hands and runs with it.
Both have struggled at the start of this Premier League season, but it is very fair to say that Villa have spent much more money in recent years – only to finish below Leeds.
Smith and Bielsa are always pitted against each other because of the recent rivalry that has been formed, but let’s be honest, they are in completely different leagues and even Agbonlahor will know that deep down.
