Frustrated Leeds United ace Jack Harrison breaks his injury silence

Frustrated Leeds United ace Jack Harrison has broken his silence on recent injury woes that have plagued his season so far for the Whites.

Harrison started off the season well, one goal and three assists catapulted him up fantasy football charts but his form dipped massively leading up to the World Cup.

The winger has now confessed that injuries to his calf and hip have been the main source of his recent woes and it was a tough decision to sit on the sidelines.

“I had a grade two tear in my hip and then two tears in my calf and inflammation as well,” he said as quoted by Leeds Live.

“That’s why I was advised to stay out of the Tottenham game because, if I’d have risked it, I could have been out for six to eight weeks and it would have pushed me back a long way.

“So it was a tough decision because I’m always the type of person that wants to play and push myself, but it was a smart decision at the time.”

New contract inbound?

Leeds Live reported on 5 December that contract negotiations with Harrison were “advancing” so it seems the Whites are keen to keep him at the club.

It’s been a mixed bag this campaign for Harrison but if he can rediscover some of that early-season form, he would be a solid player to have in the ranks.

Maybe his dip in form is solely down to the injuries he’s mentioned above, if so, then this is just an unfortunate set of matters for him to overcome.

During his time at Elland Road, Harrison on a whole has been a decent cog within the squad to utilise, so there is no reason to be getting rid of him yet.

Finalising a new contract may lift some burdens off his mind too, so hopefully, Victor Orta can get that one across the line before the January transfer window opens.

Jesse Marsch will need the Englishman to be back to his best when Premier League action returns, the World Cup break should have done him the world of good.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are now scouting an attacker at the World Cup and a January move appears to be on the cards for them.
