Fresh new Tyler Adams twist could occur at Leeds United after £100m+ Chelsea transfer development
Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams could yet stay at Elland Road this summer after his move to Chelsea fell through with the Blues now stealing a march on Brighton star Moises Caicedo.
According to The Athletic journalist Phil Hay (11 August), Adams was already in London to complete his Stamford Bridge move but is now due to travel back to West Yorkshire ahead of the weekend.
Hay reported that the move has “fallen through” as Chelsea are “no longer signing him” so he will now head back to West Yorkshire from the capital.
Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, via his Twitter account, also shared that documents were signed between all parties and the medical was completed but for Chelsea to put their full focus on signing Moises Caicedo instead, despite Liverpool having a £110m bid agreed on Thursday night (10 August).
However, in a new twist, Caicedo decided to choose Chelsea instead of Liverpool which meant Chelsea were prepared to walk away from Adams to steal a march on their £100m-plus midfield capture.
The 24-year-old, who is currently nursing a hamstring injury picked up last season, is now due to head back to the Whites squad and his expected move to the capital is now off despite it looking imminent this week.
With his £20m release clause now still open for potential clubs to exploit, such as Brighton, who are expected to dip into the market to secure Caicedo’s replacement, it’s unclear which club Adams could be featuring for in the near future.

More crucially though, after his unfortunate new development for the American international, an Elland Road stay still looks a distinct possibility, no matter how small.
Leeds United manager Daniel Farke would be absolutely delighted to get the USMNT captain back for the Championship season, with the Whites desperate for experience and quality in the middle of the park, but the Whites aren’t out of the woods yet amid a suggestion that Adams may end up at the Brighton instead, according to Secret Scout, (11 August).
With Willy Gnonto apparently seeking a move and defender Max Wober having done so in recent weeks the Leeds United boss is going to find it impossible to say with any certainty who will be in his squad once the deadline passes.

Regardless, yet another fresh new twist has emerged at Elland Road, one which could well turn to be a pretty encouraging and brilliant development if transfer proceedings regarding Adams’ future goes their way in the coming weeks.
Anything can happen in football, and a small number of the Leeds United support won’t be closing the door on that possibility just yet.
In other Leeds news, the 49ers may have no option but to let cash fly for one potential Adams replacement.
