Frank Lampard sends Leeds United a serious relegation reminder

Everton boss Frank Lampard has sent Leeds United a stark reminder that they are still in the Premier League’s relegation battle.

The Whites sit striking in 16th in the table, just five points above the drop zone with six games left to play.

When asked if other teams other than the Blues and Burnley were in the relegation fight, Lampard replied: “Sure,” as per Liverpool World.

He added: “It’s clear, isn’t it? Until you’re mathematically out of it at this stage of the season, you’re in the battle.”

Not over.

The feeling around Leeds is that they have been safe for some time now. Jesse Marsch came in and transformed the team into a much more resilient outfit which saw them put a good distance between them and the bottom three.

However, Burnley and Everton continuously battling it out in recent weeks has seen them both catch up to the Whites with them both now a little too close for comfort.

Leeds have to put as many points on the board from now until the end of the season to avoid being dragged into the mix at the last minute.

Unless the managerless Clarets go on a brilliant winning streak from now until the end of the season, Marsch’s men will most likely be safe – boasting a five-point gap on 18th place.

However, Lampard’s side poses a much greater threat being only one point off the Whites should they win their game in hand.

Crystal Palace, Brighton and Brentford are all now must-win games for Leeds with the other games against Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal looking like an unlikely source of points but stranger things have happened in Premier League relegation battles.

In other Leeds United news, Dean Jones has outlined a “top level” summer transfer target for the Whites.
