Four Leeds United players included in the Championship TOTW after 3-0 win v Millwall
Four Leeds United players have been included in WhoScored’s Championship Team of the Week after the Whites beat Millwall 3-0 at The Den.
Illan Meslier, Luke Ayling, Joel Piroe and Georginio Rutter were all included after Daniel Farke’s side looked to have finally found their groove following an indifferent start to the campaign, with the Whites holding a huge threat on the counter-attack.
The win saw Farke’s side climb into the top 10 after six games and leaves them only two points off of the play-off places and six adrift of Leicester City who currently occupy the second automatic promotion spot.
Rutter was the pick of the Whites’ bunch in a side which was dominated by Leeds’ players, earning an 8.9 rating, with Piroe and Meslier not far behind with an eight, leaving Ayling the lowest rated of the bunch with a still respectable 7.7 mark.
Dominance
That sort of dominance is what Leeds United fans likely expected this season to bring, but it testament to just how much of a team performance the win over Millwall was that players from all over the pitch have earned their place in the team of the week.

While Piroe and Rutter will steal the spotlight for their goalscoring displays, Ayling went about his business incredibly professionally and barely put a foot wrong just when the Whites needed him after Djed Spence was ruled out with injury.
The one slightly surprising name in that side from a Leeds’ perspective was the inclusion of Melsier. Although the Frenchman was in some inspired form, making three saves and facing and making nine ball recoveries, he still had a few shaky moments.
Early in the first half, a long ball into the box saw the keeper collide with Tom Bradshaw as he failed to command his box to claim the ball and had it not been for the referee’s whistle, it could have proved to be an embarrassing and costly error from the 23-year-old.
It could be argued he made up for his moment of madness with his performance for the rest of the game, but there was a small glimpse of what have been all too common slip-ups since he arrived at Elland Road.
But the important thing was the Whites getting all three points and with some excellent individual performances sprinkled in there, this Leeds team finally seems to be coming together.
