Former Leeds United star Aaron Lennon makes new Manchester United admission

Aaron Lennon has confessed he used to visit Old Trafford every week to watch Manchester United, despite being a fan of Leeds United, which has earned him some stick.

The former Leeds winger revealed that his brother had signed for Man United when he was 14 years old, so he would go to Old Trafford to watch him, but he did enjoy going.

Lennon went on to admit he probably shouldn’t be speaking so positively about Man United as a Leeds fan but said it was a great experience.

Lennon was speaking live on talkSPORT [14 December, 17:17] as he shared: “My brother signed for Man United when he was 14, so from about 9 years old we went to Old Trafford pretty much every week.

“I did enjoy going to Old Trafford, I’m not gonna lie, I shouldn’t say that as a Leeds fan but it was great. I get some stick for it.”

A controversial admission

Lennon’s allegiances to Leeds have been clear since he came through the youth system at the club and went on to make 43 appearances before his £1million move to Tottenham in 2005.

He has always been open about his support for the club and did once again clarify that he’s a Leeds fan, but fans of the Yorkshire club will be baffled by the new admission of how much he enjoyed his regular visits to Old Trafford, the stadium of their arch-rivals.

Lennon himself did joke that he shouldn’t be admitting to this, and joked about the conflict of allegiances, although fans of Leeds will surely find it tough to understand how another fan could enjoy his regular visits to Manchester to watch United.

Ultimately, it clearly had no impact on his love and affiliation with Leeds, and he continues to speak openly about his love for the Yorkshire club despite his controversial visits to Old Trafford.
