Former Leeds United coach Franz Schiemer continues to work with Max Wober despite quitting Elland Road

Franz Schiemer, one of Jesse Marsch’s coaches at Leeds United left the club after the American was shown the door in February.

In an interview with Krone, Schiemer confirmed that he was no longer at Elland Road and is now working on something of his own.

The same publication also revealed that Max Wober, who is an Austrian like Schiemer, is still working with the defender individually.

Makes sense

Players can have their personal coaches as well to work on their individual fitness or areas in their game they want to improve.

Schiemer is understood to be an important figure when it comes to coaching in Austria, so it’s understandable why Wober would go down that route.

He was also a four-time league winner as a player so his winning mentality could brush off on the Leeds defender who moved to Elland Road in January.

It remains to be seen how this arrangement works when Marsch gets another job as he may want Schiemer to join his backroom team there.

He has been part of his coaching staff at the last two clubs as well and there were no surprises when he brought him with him to Leeds as well.

However, there was a slight change in his role ahead of the 2022/23 season, as according to Training Ground Guru [July 2022], he played a more hands-off role.

That could be an indicator that the two will probably go their own ways in the future now.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites may have yet another injury concern in the international break as player has trouble with his left ankle after the Wolves win.
