Former Chelsea manager says that Leeds United are trying to sign a ‘fantastic professional’
Leeds United are still looking to bring in another striker in January.
Facundo Buonanotte remains the only arrival at Elland Road this month as the Whites eye January reinforcements to bolster their chances of survival in the Premier League.
Daniel Farke has insisted that Leeds won’t be looking to make too many additions, though they are likely to pounce if the right deal for the right player emerges.
The arrival of a second striker to complement the qualities of Dominic Calvert-Lewin remains on the cards, with a move for a player who was linked in the summer now possible again.
Leeds United linked with striker who Graham Potter respects
If you take Calvert-Lewin out of the equation, it’s very hard to see where the goals would come from for Leeds this season.
Lukas Nmecha has four goals in 18 appearances, while Joel Piroe, who has been linked with Celtic, has barely been afforded a chance to showcase his worth.
As a result, the Whites have been identifying potential targets to soften the load on Calvert-Lewin, with Leeds again linked with a move to sign Callum Wilson.
Wilson’s future at West Ham is in doubt, with reports claiming that the Hammers could be set to terminate his contract at the London Stadium to allow him to find a new club, with Leeds ready to pounce.
The 33-year-old struggled for gametime throughout Potter’s time at West Ham, but the former Chelsea boss still held the Englishman in high regard.

Graham Potter previously hailed Callum Wilson’s attitude
With four Premier League goals, Wilson is actually West Ham’s second-top scorer this season, which is a clear showcase of the struggles they have had this campaign.
However, despite that, Potter was still often reluctant to utilise Wilson, and often chose to play without a recognised striker.
Given the impact he had when he was used, that decision led to a lot of unrest at the London Stadium, and almost certainly contributed to his sacking.
With that said, Potter’s decision didn’t necessarily reflect his feelings on Wilson, with him previously having praised his attitude.
Back in September, Potter said of Wilson: “He’s been great, as we expected. A fantastic professional, a great person to have around the club and training ground.
“We are delighted with Callum, where he is at, but also where he’s been, and how we can carry on helping him to have his minutes, make his impact, and contribute to the team.
“He’s the type of professional who, whether he starts or finishes, he can have a great impact with us.”
