Footage emerges of Eddie Gray reaction to Archie Gray goal in Leeds United win v Leicester

Footage has emerged of Leeds United legend Eddie Gray reacting to Archie Gray’s winning goal against Leicester City at Elland Road on Friday night.

The Whites came from behind to beat table-topping Leicester 3-1 and cut their lead at the top of the Championship to just six points thanks to goals from Connor Roberts, a Wout Faes own goal and a Patrick Bamford knee.

The own goal came as 17-year-old Gray’s strike deflected off the defender to make it 2-1, and with many believing it was the midfielder-turned-right-back’s goal the camera panned to his legendary ex-Whites player uncle Eddie in the crowd (John_MooreMOT, 23 February), as he looked delighted.

What a moment for Leeds United

The Gray family are legendary members of the Leeds family, and Archie is the latest from that family tree to make it at Elland Road.

So it must have been an incredibly emotional moment for uncle Eddie as he watched Archie smash a strike into the corner to help the Whites claim a huge comeback win at Elland Road.

Obviously it’s a real shame that the goal has since been taken off him and awarded as an own goal for Leicester defender Faes, and it’s silly too because nobody will have wanted that taken off him.

To see Eddie in the stands looking so well and happy was a great moment and just added to the feeling of wholesomeness inside the stadium after the win.

Fans will be hoping that Archie stays at the club for many years to come which won’t be easy with some top clubs sniffing around, but his younger brother Harry is also waiting in the wings for a chance to break through in the coming seasons.
