Finance expert: San Francisco 49ers takeover may completely change the way Leeds United are run

Leeds United could move to a data-driven recruitment model once the San Francisco 49ers complete their takeover of the club.
That’s according to Dr Dan Plumley who claims that there’s going to be a significant change one way or the other at Elland Road.
He does see the NFL side spending more money than Andrea Radrizzani as they’re a bigger entity and could shell out a decent amount of cash in order to take the side to the next level.
While he does see them going all out in the transfer market as an option, he believes that may be a tad unrealistic.
With American owners and a manager in charge who is also from the States, he expects an approach similar to sports beyond the Pacific.

Discussing this situation with MOT Leeds News, the Sheffield Hallam University expert said, “The natural argument would say ‘yes’ and I think that the 49ers would put in more money.
“That’s down to the wealth factor and it remains to be seen what route you choose to go down at that point.
“Could Leeds go down the data-driven approach model in terms of recruitment like the American sports do?
“Or do they flex some financial muscle and go on to compete at the top end of the transfer market?
“The challenge for the latter with Leeds is that it’s a big gap to close.
“Going down the data-driven route makes sense, in terms of the American model and they’ve got an American coach as well.”
The Telegraph reported on May 23 that the San Francisco 49ers could complete a full takeover of the Elland Road outfit this summer.
The option exists until January 2024, but they could bring that forward if they want to.
