We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Dan Plumley has insisted that Leeds United are set for another windfall in the coming months with FIFA World Cup bonus payments due at Elland Road.

The Finance Expert admitted that every little bit of added revenue is a big bonus in the Premier League, especially for Andrea Radrizzani and the 49ers.

It comes after the Independent reported that clubs are due part of £189million put aside by FIFA, who will get £9000-per-day for each player from their squad remaining in the World Cup, as well as Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips.

“Every little helps,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“It’s absolutely a bonus for Leeds in this regard. It’s just a nice little windfall to get and in this example as well, they have the benefit of getting that money from those players who have since moved on and also, they’re not worried about them injured and not being available to play when they get back as they’re at someone else’s club.

“When you look at those numbers, it’s a welcome boost to the coffers and every little bit of revenue you can get is a bonus in the Premier League.”

This is perfect for Leeds.

When you add in the payments for Raphinha and Phillips, if they both go to the tournament, Radrizzani could be raking in close to £1million or more across the winter months.

That may not sound like much, but with wages still to pay during the break with no matchday revenues, every little will be helping the club.
