‘Fed up’ Chris Sutton raises Daniel Farke sack point, he’s delighted with events at Leeds

Chris Sutton admits he has been “fed up” with the recent talk suggesting Daniel Farke is close to the Leeds United sack.

Farke’s Leeds job was under intense pressure not so long ago as the Whites slipped into the Premier League relegation zone.

Many felt Farke would be out of a job at Elland Road this week on the back of a tricky run of games against Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool.

However, Leeds’ superb 3-3 draw against Liverpool made it a very encouraging four points from those fixtures, with the Whites now back out of the bottom three.

All of a sudden there is far less talk regarding Farke‘s position ahead of Leeds‘ trip to fellow relegation battlers Brentford this weekend.

Brentford backed to beat Leeds at Gtech Community Stadium

Leeds make the trip to Brentford on Sunday with a big chance to put some distance between themselves and the drop zone, while dragging the Bees further into trouble.

Brentford are far better on home soil than they are away, while Leeds seem to be able to pick themselves up for games against the bigger sides.

That is perhaps why Sutton has predicted a 2-0 win for Brentford in his Premier League predictions column for BBC Sport.

Sutton also pointed out in his column how Farke’s final game as Norwich City manager came against Brentford, despite his Canaries side winning that day.

However, Sutton added that there is no reason why Farke’s job should be called into question at Leeds after recent results.

He added: “I am so pleased for Leeds boss Daniel Farke because I was fed up with the rubbish being talked about how he cannot manage in the Premier League.

“Leeds have had a tough run of games against Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool and it felt like there were people out there who were waiting and even wishing for Farke to fail, so he would be sacked.

“I am delighted that it has turned out very differently. The performances, the guts, and the quality that Leeds have shown has been brilliant, even in defeat at City, and against Chelsea and Liverpool they have picked up points too.

The horror record that points to a Leeds defeat this weekend

Brentford are four points better off than Leeds and, given this is at the Gtech Community Stadium, the Bees will be the slight favourites with many.

One particular stat does not make for great reading from Leeds’ perspective, either, as they have lost their last eight Premier League matches player on Sundays.

The Whites have conceded 24 goals across that run, which includes defeats this season to Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa.

No Premier League team has lost nine Sunday games in a row, so this is an unwanted record Farke will be eager to avoid this weekend.
