FC Utrecht wanted Crysencio Summerville but Leeds blocked loan
Crysencio Summerville was in the picture to join FC Utrecht on loan in the summer, but Leeds United decided to block an exit, according to De Telegraaf.
The 19-year-old Dutch winger is yet to make his first-team bow but has made all of the club’s Premier League matchday squads this term as Marcelo Bielsa is pleased with his development.
Instead of allowing Summerville leave, the Elland Road outfit opted to approve temporary exits for Helder Costa and Ian Poveda, dealing a blow on the plans of the Eredivisie side.
First-team hopeful
Utrecht clearly wanted to bring the teenage sensation back home for him to start playing first-team football having proven himself for Leeds under-23s.
However, Bielsa clearly has plans for Summerville to feature for his team this season and has indicated that by taking him along for the experience over the last three league games.
The likes of SC Cambuur, FC Groningen and SC Heerenveen have all attempted to sign the Dutchman in the past, but have all been rebuffed [De Telegraaf].
The youngster joined the Whites from Feyenoord in 2020, ending last term with six goals and eight assists for their under-23s as they sealed promotion to the Premier League 2 Division 1.
While Dan James has been signed from Manchester United, there should still be space for Summerville to shine during the Cup competitions and in some Premier League games.
Bielsa clearly loves what he has seen in the kid so far, and definitely has plans for him going forward.
In other Leeds news, Whites were keen on Colombian winger with £68m buyout clause ahead of deadline day.
