Farke offers ‘unlucky’ Jayden Bogle injury update after Leeds United draw

Daniel Farke has issued a key update on Jayden Bogle’s injury latest after Leeds United played out a 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers.

Bogle was forced off early in the second half as the points were shared at Elland Road, replaced by Ethan Ampadu after Paul Merson believed the right-back to have “done his hamstring”.

Sam Byram – who has become an increasingly important squad player – was also withdrawn at half-time after feeling ill, with Farke telling the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Graham Smyth [1 January] that he hopes the duo will be available to face Hull City on 4 January.

“With Jayden it’s unlucky, he got a dead leg and wasn’t able to move. I hope it’s not too serious, I hope to have them both available for the trip to Hull. Hopefully they can use the next 48 hours to recover,” the German revealed.

“[As for January], our recruitment department is prepared for each and every scenario. You can of course lose a player to injury but we’ll just be reactive. We can’t afford to have four or five for one position.

“In the background we prepare a few things but I don’t think these injuries are so serious. It could be Jayden misses the Hull game but after that I’m quite sure he’d be available.”

Leeds United relief as Bogle injury not serious

On what transpired to be a frustrating afternoon for Leeds United at Elland Road, the silver lining is that Bogle’s blow appears not as significant as first feared.

Pascal Struijk’s late penalty seemed to be enough, but with precious little time in the driving seat, Leeds were pegged back when Danny Batth struck from close range to deny two of the three points that were so nearly carved out.

Bogle limped off to initial fears he could have missed a stint in January, a month in which Leeds could delve into the transfer market – though Farke seems coy on any window activity.

The club remain in a much healthier PSR position than how they approached the summer, but want to continue to tread a stable line to avoid any potential fire-sales.

Bogle and Byram both possibly missing the trip to Humberside to face Hull in three days’ time means a reshuffle could be on the cards, though a full week at Thorp Arch follows before the hosting of Harrogate Town in the FA Cup third round, as fringe players will expect a runout.
