Farke makes honest Leeds United admission after promotion sealed – ‘Finished’
Leeds United have secured promotion to the top flight from the Championship, but they still have two games remaining.
Daniel Farke has secured promotion at the second time of asking despite a roller-coaster few months in which the Whites briefly slipped into the playoffs.
Leeds will now compete in the Premier League next season, but they have two more Championship games to see out the season, against Bristol City and Plymouth Argyle.
Scott Parker’s Burnley are level on points with Leeds in the table, and it will be a dogfight between the two sides to see who will be crowned champions, but Farke is not too concerned.

Farke unconcerned over Leeds title push
Both Leeds and Burnley have secured promotion from the Championship, but the mindset now appears to be that their work is done, rather than working harder to secure top spot.
Speaking in his press conference ahead of Leeds’ final Championship game at Elland Road, Farke claimed that finishing first or second to seal promotion does not matter too much, as long as the task is achieved.
“If I’m honest we have finished the job, I’ve won the league title two times and you don’t have an advantage in the Premier League winning the title,” Farke stated.
“The big challenge was bringing this club back to the Premier League. It was a huge challenge, we’re happy and proud we’ve achieved this. 94 points is club-best ever achieved.

“The club has never scored 89 goals [in a season], best goal difference. Two more game days to improve this, win more points, add more goals.
“If there’s a chance, of course we want to win the league. Burnley is a fantastic competitor, they also deserve it.
“We will try to do this and finish as strong as possible but it won’t give us any advantage next season.”

Leeds should push for the Championship title
Although Leeds have achieved their main goal of promotion, they should strive to finish first to make a statement that they are indeed the best team in their division.
The last few months have seen Farke’s side falter under pressure, and while there will be little now, it would still be satisfying for the fans in attendance at both games to see two more victories.
All three promoted sides have gone straight back down in the past two seasons, but winning the title made a clear difference in 2022.
Fulham won the Championship, with Bournemouth going up in second place and Nottingham Forest winning the play-offs in 2022. This was reflected in their Premier League campaigns, as champions Fulham finished 10th, with Bournemouth in 15th and Forest in 16th.
It is therefore surprising to see Farke so unbothered about finishing as champions, but this may indicate that his future no longer lies at Elland Road.
