Fabrizio Romano shares where Leeds United star Raphinha sits in Arsenal summer priorities

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Leeds United star winger Raphinha is not a priority for Arsenal in the ongoing transfer window.

The Brazil international has been linked with a move away from the Elland Road in the summer, with interest from a number of big clubs, particularly Barcelona.

On Friday [10 June], the Telegraph reported that the Gunners were ready to battle the Catalan giants for the signature of the 25-year-old.

However Guardian journalist Romano, on his Twitter account, stated that while the North London-based club are interested in signing the winger but they have other priorities, in the form of Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus and Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans.

As such there is so far no bid from the Emirates or contact between the clubs.

Good news

If it is claimed that Raphinha is a fan favourite among the Leeds fans, it wouldn’t be wrong as he was one of the few shining lights for the Whites in a difficult season.

The Brazil international made 35 appearances in the recently concluded Premier League season, scoring 11 goals and providing three assists.

If Leeds lose out on Raphinha, they will only weaken a team that already had so many unanswered questions from back to front.

Considering the lack of defensive organisation Jesse Marsch’s men have, the last thing they would want is losing a player that used to win them games single-handedly going forward.

Raphinha usually plays on the right-wing but can change his position easily by going to the left.

He is one of the most versatile wingers in the Premier League right now and will be a good addition to any team.

In other Leeds United news, a suitable bid has yet to be made for a target who is drawing “intense interest” that the Whites are thought to be at the head of.
