Fabrizio Romano shares latest on Leeds United transfer news, Cody Gakpo not a top target

Fabrizio Romano has shared the latest on incomings at Leeds United this summer as exit talk continues to swirl regarding Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips.

The reliable journalist named Club Brugge star Charles De Ketelaere as the “one name” to watch, with Cody Gakp as PSV Eindhoven not considered to be a top target at this stage.

Luis Miguel Echegaray then admitted alongside Raphinha that Andrea Radrizzani and Jesse Marsch are making some “moves” in West Yorkshire.

Speaking on the Que Golazo Transfer News and Notes update on YouTube [24 June], Romano shared the latest updates coming from Elland Road.

“They are working on many, many players,” he said. “Let me say that they will sign players, of course, to replace these two players – Raphinha will leave which is the expectation and Kalvin, very good chances for him to go to Man City.

“I want to say one name, Charles De Ketelaere, this talent from Brugge, huge talent. Now, Leeds have his name on the list as one of the potential players to join in case Raphinha leaves – remember the name.

“Cody Gakpo is another name on the list, but not a top priority.”

Echegaray, the host of the podcast, reacted to the news and was excited by movements at Elland Road.

“Jesse Marsch making some moves with Andrea Radirzzani.”

Moving quickly.

No one wants to admit that Raphinha will be moving on, but we have all come to accept that it is very likely with bids starting to fly in from left, right and centre.

Successful clubs such as Leicester have done this in recent years, losing the likes of Ngolo Kante and Ben Chilwell, but they always reinvest smartly to make sure they aren’t affected.

Bringing in De Ketelaere would be perfect and would likely make us all forget about Raphinha quicker than we would all like to admit given his hero status.

The 21-year-old smashed in 14 goals and added nine assists in Belgium last season, and is widely recognised as the next big thing in Belgium – not a bad label to have.

Romano making it clear that this is the “one” name to watch means that Leeds must be very hot on the heels of the attacker, and Radrizzani will be buzzing if he can get this one over the line.
