Fabrizio Romano: Leeds planning for 21/22 with Bielsa

Fabrizio Romano has said that Leeds United “are planning” for life with Marcelo Bielsa next season and that any links with Massimiliano Allegri are dead.

Bielsa only signs one-year deals and speculation about him leaving will start again in the summer until he makes his decision.

However, Romano has said that he is confident Bielsa will still be in the Leeds dugout next season.

Talking to Give Me Sport Romano said, “I’m told they’re planning within [for Bielsa] and they’re doing their best to keep him.

“They want to go on with him and are doing their best to persuade him to stay.

“There’s nothing with Allegri, he wants something different. He wants to win titles.

“He’s looking for a top, top, club. Leeds are an amazing project but they’re very happy with Bielsa. I think they will go on with him. Leeds are planning with Bielsa.”

No one wants to think about life without Bielsa

Allegri was a huge name that shows Leeds intent and it’s right that they have a Plan B in case Bielsa does decide to leave.

Times journalist Duncan Castles said that Leeds had approached him and it shows a massive level of ambition.

However, you’d be hard-pressed to find a Leeds fan who would want Bielsa to leave even if Allegri was waiting in the wings.

All signs are pointing to Bielsa staying for at least another year.

Talking about the job recently Bielsa said that he would give Leeds an answer before the end of the season if they wanted it.

However, he said that results could go wrong and that it was better for Leeds to wait until the summer.

He said, “It could be interpreted as the club having more desire for me staying than I do, and that is not the case.”

While Bielsa’s desire still runs deep, Leeds fans can rest easy.
