Fabrizio Romano: Leeds-linked player in talks with Barcelona over summer move
Sky Sports transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has said that Sergio Aguero is in talks with Barcelona and wants to join the Spanish giants after being linked with a shock move to Leeds United.
Talking on the latest episode of the Here We Go podcast Romano said, “I want to say that Kun wants to join Barcelona. He’s pushing to go to Barcelona, he wants to play with Leo Messi. So contacts are going on, Barcelona won’t decide anything before the end of the season.
“So, we need to wait a bit to see if they can find an agreement, but they’re talking with Aguero. They will decide for Depay [and] Aguero only at the end of the season but Aguero wants to join Barcelona and talks are going on.”
90min.com reported the shock links with Leeds United saying that Marcelo Bielsa is a “known fan”.
Leeds going for evolution not bank-breaking Aguero
This was always destined to end with Aguero going somewhere else.
It’s great that Leeds are starting to get linked with real giants of the game but this was never going to happen.
First, his age. Leeds will be looking to bring in younger players who can be moulded by Bielsa to his style of play.
Then there are his eye-watering wages.
We can’t think of a transfer that would be more out of place than a huge money deal for a 32-year-old striker.
The joke is that even if Leeds signed Aguero, Patrick Bamford would still probably start the first game of next season.
Leeds will be looking at a new left-back and a couple of midfielders but we’re not expecting anything spectacular and we’re certainly not expecting any aged superstars to turn up.
