Fabrizio Romano: Javi Gracia to Leeds United imminent but contract not signed yet
Leeds United are reportedly narrowing out the last details of Javi Gracia’s contract as he appears set to take over at Elland Road.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the talks are continuing and it’s imminent that the Spaniard will be the new manager at Elland Road.
After a rocky road to find Jesse Marsch’s successor, Leeds appear to have finally ended the process.
Via Twitter, Romano wrote, “Leeds United are now closing in on the appointment of former Watford coach Javi Gracia as new manager, as reported yesterday. Final details being discussed before signing the contract, it’s imminent.”
Good move?
Leeds certainly have endured a torrid time in finding someone to succeed Jesse Marsch as they sacked him without a plan in mind.
When they parted ways with Marcelo Bielsa, they had a replacement lined up and it’s baffling how this has taken them so long.
They do not appear to be run like a proper Premier League club and Gracia is now going to have to have an instant impact at Elland Road.

He avoided relegation twice at Watford and did so by playing a good brand of football which is not akin to most relegation-threatened teams.
It’ll be interesting to see how he sorts out the defensive woes in this side as there are certainly plenty that needs addressing.
Goal scoring has also been an issue despite an abundance of chances being created so someone like Georginio Rutter could come in to become a regular.
