Fabrizio Romano: AC Milan submit opening bid for Leeds United target Charles de Ketelaere

AC Milan have reportedly submitted an opening bid in the region of £17.2million plus add-ons to sign Leeds United target Charles de Ketelaere

According to Fabrizio Romano, Club Brugge are looking out for more but Milan will now open direct talks with the 21-year-old.

Leeds have already approached the Belgian side for the services of the young attacker, but will now have to battle the Serie A champions to his signature.

Romano wrote on Twitter, “AC Milan have made an opening bid for Charles de Ketelaere, €20m plus add-ons. Club Brugge want more but AC Milan now opening direct talks, as per DiMarzio. Leeds have also approached Brugge for de Ketelaere as revealed weeks ago.”

Losing cause

There’s no chance that Leeds can fend off interest from Milan – a side that just won the Italian league and that’s set to play in the Champions League next season.

If presented with the two options, the Belgian will obviously move to San Siro as they will help him showcase his skills at a higher level.

Leeds’ only hope is that they will not be able to afford the player as their opening bid is significantly lower than what Brugge have been looking for.

However, it’s time for the Whites to move on and only keep tabs remotely on the Milan situation without engaging in any kind of bidding war.

Brugge know that they’re in the driver’s seat and will look to sell him for the most they can – playing off the multiple offers against each other.

Leeds look to be closing in on a move for Feyenoord attacker Luis Sinisterra and have already agreed on the fee as well as his contract.

It makes sense to prioritise that over the Belgium international.

In other Leeds United news, the club have now opened talks with an ‘Incredible’ title-winning central midfielder to replace Kalvin Phillips.
