FA open double Leeds United investigation with financial penalty now on cards

Leeds United could be in line to face punishment from the FA shortly.

Leeds tasted defeat against Tottenham last time out as Daniel Farke’s side fell to their first Elland Road loss of the season on 4 October.

Noah Okafor scored again for Leeds to make it 1-1 against the Lilywhites, but they couldn’t hold on as Mohammed Kudus netted the eventual winner on 57 minutes.

Leeds will have felt hard done by the officiating against Tottenham after what was a frustrating afternoon at times in LS11.

The Whites may have escaped punishment on the day, but could now face retrospective action from the FA.

Leeds to face fine for fan incidents vs Tottenham

Elland Road provides one of the greatest atmospheres in English football, but it can sometimes go too far.

This was the case against Spurs as Leeds fans threw projectiles from the stands throughout the defeat in West Yorkshire.

Pedro Porro saw a vape thrown in his direction before he jokingly picked it up and pretended to smoke before taking a corner.

Kudus went on to face similar treatment as a bottle narrowly avoided his head as he celebrated his goal by sitting on a stool in the second half.

The Daily Mail reported on 6 October, page 64, that the FA has opened an investigation into these matters.

Leeds could now face a financial penalty from the governing body, even if Porro was able to see the funny side on the touchline.

Leeds United let down by fan action in Tottenham defeat

Farke’s side may have lost to Spurs, but they once again put in a positive shift and were unlucky to come away without anything.

Leeds arguably had the better of the chances and, on another day, could have snatched at least a point against Thomas Frank’s men.

Despite this, all the talk will be about fan behaviour at Elland Road that could have caused severe damage to Kudus.

The Ghana international was nearly struck by a flying bottle, an incident that warrants serious punishment.

The actions of a few individuals have put a dampener on the atmosphere surrounding the Whites after what was so nearly another positive home result.
