FA experts want Leeds United gem Charlie Crew after what they’ve found out

Leeds United midfielder Charlie Crew is on England’s radar despite playing for Wales at youth level, according to Alan Nixon.

Writing on his Patreon on Sunday (1 October), the Sun journalist said people at the FA have worked out that the 17-year-old qualifies for England due to some of his family members’ nationality.

He added that the midfielder is tipped to make his senior debut for the Welsh national side soon, but that it would be a “prize scalp” if the Three Lions can “snatch him away”.

It will be extremely interesting to see how this one plays out after Crew has already been involved with the Welsh national team setup all the way up to U-21 level.

It’s clear to see from the interest shown by England that they think he could have a bright future as they aim to secure his allegiance over the coming months.

In the latest round of international fixtures, the midfielder was invited to train with the Welsh first team alongside his Leeds teammates Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon.

The teenager signed for the Whites from Cardiff City last summer for a reported six-figure fee and he has since signed a professional contract until 2025 at Elland Road.

It could be a tricky decision for the youngster to make, but he has to decide which country will provide him with the best opportunities in terms of playing time and the chance to compete at the highest level.
