Ezgjan Alioski 'almost certainly' will leave Leeds in summer - Graham Smyth

Graham Smyth has insisted that Ezgjan Alioski will “almost certainly” leave Leeds United in the upcoming summer.

The North Macedonian international is still to sign a new contract at Elland Road and looks set to be packing his bags once the season is over.

It has been reported that Alioski will join Galatasaray, however, he has asked for the announcement to be delayed due to possible backlash [Fotomac].

Writing for the Yorkshire Evening Post, Smyth insisted that he won’t be the only one leaving Elland Road this summer.

“Some of the current squad will go this summer, without doubt, and even if you were wishing Gjanni Alioski away when he conceded that horrible penalty at Brighton, he played an undeniable role in making that fixture a reality,” he wrote.

“Time and football don’t stand still and Alioski, who having not signed the deal on the table by this stage is almost certainly on his way, won’t be alone in moving on.”

Action needed.

Left-back has been a real problem area, and with Stuart Dallas moving into midfield, that leaves either Niall Huggins or Leif Davis as the other two options.

It has been made no secret that the Whites are targeting a new first-choice player in that spot for Bielsa, with numerous names being mooted.

The latest of those names is Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico, with reliable journalist Mike Verwelj insisting Leeds have “serious interest” in the Argentinian.

Despite his serious lack of judgement sometimes, Alioski has still started 25 games and come off the bench seven times in the Premier League.

With some fragile performances have come some great moments for the Macedonian, who will always be remembered at Elland Road, regardless of his next move.
