‘Extraordinary’ Stamford Bridge reveal shared ahead of Chelsea vs Leeds United

Leeds United make their way to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night as they look to cause a massive upset against Chelsea.

Liam Rosenior’s side are in excellent form, with the new Chelsea boss yet to lose in the Premier League.

Of course, that does not bode well for Daniel Farke, but he will be encouraged by his side’s previous performance against the Blues.

Leeds shocked the league by defeating Chelsea 3-1 back in December, as the German manager began to save his job in LS11.

Farke will be without Pascal Struijk and Anton Stach at Stamford Bridge, which is a huge blow for the Whites in their quest for survival.

Chelsea are yet to sell out Stamford Bridge ahead of Leeds

Leeds are pushing ahead with plans to expand Elland Road, a move which should see the ground increase its capacity by around 16,000.

An increase in capacity has become more important over recent years, with ticket sales counting towards the Profit and Sustainability rules and therefore affecting the business a club can do in the transfer window.

With the new Squad Cost Ratio rules replacing PSR, that income stream will still have a huge effect, as more tickets sold will see more revenue, which is still a key part of the updated regulations.

Tuesday’s opponents are another club looking to do some construction work on their home ground, with concerns that their current stadium is too small for their level.

However, ahead of Chelsea versus Leeds, the London club have yet to sell out their stadium, with plenty of tickets left on sale, despite the rivalry.

This has led to journalist David Hellier not quite believing this “extraordinary” scenario and exclaiming there is no need for a Stamford Bridge expansion.

Of course, for Leeds, a Stamford Bridge that is not full to the brim is a positive for them, and they’ll be hoping it remains the case by kick-off.

Leeds surely safe if they beat Chelsea

Unless West Ham pull off a shock result of their own against Manchester United, then Leeds beating Chelsea would surely see the Peacocks stave off relegation.

Earlier in the season, the Leeds manager felt that 38 points would be enough to stay up, and a win at Stamford Bridge would put them within two wins of that tally.

Leeds’ home form has been exceptional this season, winning six, drawing four, and losing just three at Elland Road.

With home games against both Wolves and Burnley down the line, a win on Tuesday would certainly put Leeds in a good position.
