Ex-Leeds striker Becchio claims he has contacted club over potential deal for int'l client
Former Leeds United striker Luciano Becchio has claimed that he has opened talks with the club over potentially signing Leganes left-back Jonathan Silva.
The ex-striker now works as a representative for talent in the contemporary game, and told Spanish outlet AS that he was already in touch with the Whites over a potential deal for the 26-year-old.
Silva has twice been capped for Argentina, and has spent spells with the likes of Boca Juniors, AS Roma, and Sporting Lisbon.
The full-back has made 33 appearances in La Liga this term, and registered two assists against Real Madrid in his most recent outing for the Leganes.
When asked if there were any players on his books that he would recommend to Leeds during an interview with AS, Becchio said: “Of the players that I can recommend, it’s Jonathan Silva.
“Former Boca Juniors, he’s playing on the left-back at Leganés.

“In fact, we are already in contact with the club.
“Let’s see what happens in the future. We have him in the catalogue.”
It wasn’t that long ago that Becchio was playing for the Whites himself, but he still holds a strong affinity with the club, and we would trust him wholeheartedly to only recommend the very best players at his disposal to Leeds.
Silva certainly looks to have the right kind of pedigree.
The Argentine’s CV is a who’s who of global footballing giants, and at 26, he still has his best years ahead of him.
Over the course of this season he has averaged 10.6% more accurate crosses than Stuart Dallas, as per Wyscout, as well as winning a higher percentage of his duels, and making more accurate long passes.
If there is a deal to be done here, and if the price is right, it could be a great coup for the Whites.
