Ex-Elland Road chief Massimo Cellino makes Leeds United promotion prediction after ‘terrible’ Premier League season
Former Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino has predicted the Elland Road club to make it back to the Premier League.
The Whites were relegated from the top flight last season, finishing in 19th place after winning just seven of their 38 matches.
The Elland Road outfit currently occupy third place in the Championship standings, having won 10 of their 18 matches so far.

“I love Leeds,” Cellino told the Daily Mail (1 December). “I still miss Leeds. I miss Yorkshire, I miss Yorkshire Tea, Yorkshire puddings.
“I still watch Leeds matches. They are the first result I look out for. Last year was terrible. Jesus. But they will go up again.”

Promotion looming?
Promotion to the Premier League will be a very difficult task this season, just like it is every season, but the fact that Leeds already have more wins than they managed last time out in the top flight is a very good sign.
The quality has, of course, dropped given that it is the second division, but standards remain high, with Leicester City and Ipswich Town looking hard to catch in first and second places respectively.
Southampton and West Brom meanwhile are keeping Daniel Farke’s side on their toes in fourth and fifth places respectively.
There will, of course, be the very difficult task of staying in the Premier League if Leeds do manage to make it back. That scenario has been on show this season, with newly promoted clubs Luton Town, Sheffield United and Burnley all struggling in the top flight.
For now, however, Farke and his players will remain strongly focused on the current campaign and winning as many matches as possible.
