Everything Scott Parker said about Leeds in Burnley pre-match press conference

Leeds United are set to return to Premier League action against Burnley on Saturday.

The Whites travel to Turf Moor for a 3pm kick-off as they aim to claim three points with the team who they went toe to toe with for the Championship title last season.

Leeds are favourites to beat Burnley, as the pair prepare for an encounter that could potentially be crucial to their respective seasons come the end of the campaign.

Daniel Farke will be hoping to see his side get back to winning ways after their defeat to Tottenham last time out, and Scott Parker is in an equally confident mood ahead of the clash.

Scott Parker expects Leeds to be similar to last season

Leeds will be slightly concerned that Farke has only beaten Burnley once during his managerial career, with that victory coming in an FA Cup tie in 2020 during his time with Norwich City.

The German has also only recorded one victory against Parker over the years, with both things unwelcome omens ahead of this weekend’s encounter.

Despite the optimism in the Leeds camp, their opponents will also be viewing the game as a great opportunity to earn themselves a much-needed three points.

Parker has heaped praise on the Whites during his pre-match press conference, and emphasised that he is expecting a similar challenge to the one that he faced from them last season.

“I think they’re a very good team and we experienced that last year,” the 45-year-old said.

“They’re a top team who have a lot of quality and a good intensity about their game, with a brilliant manager who has been there for some time now, and you can see that.

“There’s a few little changes and (Dominic) Calvert-Lewin is more of a focal point for them, but for the majority of it, we’re going to see similarities to what we faced last year.”

Jayden Bogle must get the better of Jaidon Anthony

Jayden Bogle has made an excellent start for Leeds so far this season, and they will need him to be at his best once again if they are to come away from Lancashire with three points this weekend.

The right-back is set to go up against Jaidon Anthony in what promises to be a fascinating battle with the hosts’ standout performer so far this term.

The former Leeds winger already has five goal contributions to his name from seven league games, and is outperforming his xG by 2.02 goals, according to the Burnley Express.

Only Jarrod Bowen and Moises Caicedo boast a higher overperformance than Anthony in the Premier League, which earmarks him as a major threat for his former side this weekend.

Games in the top flight are often decided by individual battles between players, and this is certainly one to keep an eye on this weekend.
