‘Everything points towards Marcelo Bielsa return at Leeds’ despite recent developments
Leeds United enter 2026 in very good shape, but they will know that their hard work is only just starting in the Premier League.
Daniel Farke has transformed Leeds with his tactical switch at Elland Road, and they are currently six points and two spots above the relegation zone.
West Ham are in crisis but are ready to spend big in January, while things aren’t all rosy at Nottingham Forest, just below the Whites, either.
Despite that, Marcelo Bielsa’s name keeps appearing out of nowhere in LS11.

Daniel Farke sack latest at Leeds United
Farke is going nowhere anytime soon, and it would take a wild dip for that to happen.
Despite that, it appears that many believe that Bielsa is the perfect replacement for Leeds, with his Uruguay stint not looking great heading towards the World Cup.
Nick Miller has produced some wild predictions for 2026 already, but his Elland Road suggestion may just be the wildest of them all.
“Things don’t seem to be going swimmingly for Marcelo Bielsa as head coach of Uruguay’s national team,” he wrote for The Athletic.
“Leeds are, despite their recent good results, still among the favourites to be relegated this season. The chances are they will have a managerial vacancy in 2026.
“It’s all pointing to one very emotional reunion.“
The January signings that could keep Daniel Farke in post
Farke and Leeds want a couple of new signings this month, with a defender and striker top of the list.
Joe Rodon is currently injured, which could open the door for the first, but Leeds’ failed summer move for Harry Wilson shares where the real priority will be.
Farke has made it no secret that he wants a creative attacking option that can play all across the front three, so another striker would make it three possible signings.
Possible Leeds signings
Harry Wilson – Fulham
Danilho Doekhi – Union Berlin
Ruben Vargas – Sevilla
Troy Parrott – AZ
That is just a glimpse of the target list, although it shows that Leeds definitely want physicality at the back and more flair in the final third around Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Keeping Calvert-Lewin fit is the key to everything at this stage, but handing him even more help could make Leeds very difficult to stop in 2026.
That would also mean no Bielsa, but would anyone really swap right now?
