Every game Joe Rodon could now miss as Daniel Farke drops crushing injury news at Stadium of Light
Leeds United could be facing a spell without key central defender Joe Rodon after he picked up an injury against Sunderland.
Rodon was forced off in the first half at the Stadium of Light after taking two separate blows to his right ankle.
The Welshman initially tried to play through the pain, but finally accepted defeat after his own lack of mobility helped Simon Adingra open the scoring for Sunderland.
Rodon watched the Whites secure a point from the bench, Calvert-Lewin sweeping home the equaliser, before Daniel Farke confirmed the severity of the defender’s injury after the game.
Leeds lose Joe Rodon for at least three games
Leeds have now moved seven points clear of the relegation zone after taking a point home from the Stadium of Light.
Farke’s side are unbeaten in their last five Premier League games, and will look to continue their superb form against Liverpool at Anfield on New Year’s Day.
However, in his press conference after the Sunderland draw, Farke revealed that Leeds are set to be without Rodon for their trip to Merseyside, with the centre-back suffering from a swollen ankle.
Leeds journalist Adam Pope also added that the Whites boss feels Rodon could also miss the upcoming clashes with Manchester United and Newcastle United.
Farke’s side welcome Man United to Elland Road on 4 January, before travelling to St James’ Park to face Newcastle just three days later.

Who could replace Joe Rodon for Leeds
After Rodon was forced off against Sunderland, Farke brought on Ao Tanaka and switched Leeds to a four at the back system.
The change had a big impact, as the West Yorkshire outfit looked a completely different side in the second half, and arguably should’ve taken all three points back to Elland Road.
With Rodon set for at least three games on the sidelines, Farke could stick with the back four that worked so well at the Stadium of Light.
If the German boss would rather bring in a like-for-like replacement, Sebastiaan Bornauw is the most likely option, although the 26-year-old has only played two minutes of Premier League football since his move from Wolfsburg over the summer.

Alternatively, Ethan Ampadu could drop back into centre-half, a position which he has played many times in the past.
