Ethan Ampadu tells reporter to ask different question in new joke away from Leeds

Leeds United may be taking a break from action, but some of their players have been playing on international duty.

One of those players is Leeds captain Ethan Ampadu, who represented Wales in their World Cup qualifier against Liechtenstein.

The centre-back played 64 minutes in the 3-0 victory, with Elland Road teammate Joe Rodon on the scoresheet.

The pair were interviewed after the game, and Ampadu jested with the reporter to ask a different question.

Ampadu jokes with reporter after Wales victory

Rodon and Ampadu have been at the core of Leeds’ success this season, partnering each other in the hub of the Whites’ defence.

Given that they both represent Wales regularly, they probably spend more time together than with their families at times.

Wales have enjoyed life under Craig Bellamy, and they are now unbeaten in nine matches under the former Liverpool player.

Their victory over Liechtenstein means that the Dragons are now top of Group J with seven points, two ahead of North Macedonia.

For Rodon, his goal was the first of his international career, and he was clearly buzzing about the achievement.

After the game, Ampadu spoke about his Leeds teammate before aiming a bit of humour at Rodon and the reporter.

He said: “Very pleased. Me and Joe, obviously, we’re with each other every day, so.”

The reporter replied: “You’re not fed up with each other yet, though?”

Ampadu: “I think he’s fed up with me, to be honest with you.”

Rodon humoured: “Down the block, down the block.”

Ampadu: “Yeah, less questions about me, this is about him. He scored, ask him the questions. I’m here standing for moral support.”

Leeds United possess strong pair in Ampadu and Rodon

The Yorkshire club had the second-best defensive record last season, conceding just 30 goals in 46 Championship matches.

They were only bettered by Burnley, who pulled off the remarkable feat of conceding just 16 goals.

Rodon and Ampadu were instrumental to the Elland Road outfit’s success and racked up 75 league appearances between them.

They will both have massive roles in the Premier League, and while that will be a difficult task, they have quality and experience to make it a successful season.

The duo both have top-flight experience, Rodon with 15 appearances for Tottenham, while Ampadu has 26 with Chelsea and Sheffield United.

This will be the double act’s first foray in the Premier League with Leeds and will be looking to provide the Yorkshire side with a strong base to build from.

While Leeds were not strong enough to compete at the top table last time, they should provide a sturdier test this time round.
