Ethan Ampadu sends incredible message after crushing Leeds United injury

Ethan Ampadu has sent a message after missing the huge Leeds United victory against Sheffield United on Monday evening.

Supporters could not be blamed if they felt nervous entering the massive clash at Bramall Lane, finding out at the last moment that the Welsh international was ruled out.

However, Daniel Farke confirmed after leaving the captain out of his team selection that it was due to an injury that will keep him out for several weeks.

Thankfully, it meant little as Leeds went on to secure another late 3-1 victory.

Ampadu in good spirits after Leeds win

Although the omission of the Wales international from the squad on Monday (24 February) will have worried plenty of supporters, attention had to turn to the game at hand.

With the Whites taking on Sheffield United, it was certainly the biggest game of the season to date and fell in the Blades’ favour early on when an Illan Meslier blunder gave his opponents the lead.

As the game ticked on, it looked unsure whether the Whites would take anything from the game at all before a Junior Firpo headed equaliser provided some hope.

Classic Leeds United scenes followed with Ao Tanaka giving his side the lead in the 89th minute before Joel Piroe put the game firmly to bed with a third goal in the 90th minute.

The victory leaves Farke’s men sitting five points clear at the top of the Championship table now.

Despite missing the game, Ampadu was the first person to jump to praise his teammates as he shared on his X account (24 February): “This team. Incredible fight from the boys.”

At this stage, losing any player is not helpful for a side that is pushing for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

However, when it’s your captain, who is also a well-established fan favourite, it is an even harsher blow to the team and Farke.

Luckily for Farke, his team proved they could survive without a key player for the second time this season, even if it did take some time to get going.

With Ampadu full of praise for his teammates too, it speaks volumes about what it is like inside the dressing room at Elland Road this term with everyone pulling in the same direction, even if they have not been a direct part of something on the day.

Of course, the sooner everyone is fit and available the better as it provides the boss with the option to change things up when necessary.

However, being able to go five points clear at the top of the Championship is a massive statement, especially without someone like Ampadu available and that suggests that the West Yorkshire outfit could be well on their way to a top-flight return.
