Ethan Ampadu riles Burnley players in unseen moment before Leeds United game

Leeds United ace Ethan Ampadu riled the Burnley players by booting their ball away ahead of Saturday’s clash (14 September), Graham Smyth has shared.

Leeds played Scott Parker’s men at Elland Road and ended up losing 1-0, which sent the Whites out of the top six spots.

Daniel Farke’s men are now five points astray of league leaders West Brom and are performing well below what was expected of them at the start of the season.

Reporting on some unseen moments via the Yorkshire Evening Post’s website [15 September], Smyth shared details about Ampadu’s actions before the game.

“Ethan Ampadu, the birthday boy, getting hold of a stray Burnley ball that landed in the middle of the Leeds warm-up and ceremoniously booting it as far into the air as he could,” he shared.

“There were some passive-aggressive looks in the reaction of the visitors as James Trafford sent a succession of practise goal-kicks into the Leeds half of the pitch.

“Seconds later the captain was geeing up the outfield starters ahead of a possession game.”

Leeds United need to find a way to improve their form

As aforementioned, Leeds’ start to the 2024/25 season hasn’t gone quite to plan.

The Whites were predicted to be one of the teams challenging for the title this term but instead, they’ve managed to find themselves out of the playoff spots altogether.

Their opponents so far have been tough with the Whites facing both West Brom and Burnley thus far.

New arrivals Joe Rothwell and Manor Solomon have both gotten off to fairly solid starts but players such as Mateo Joseph haven’t really been pulling their weight.

It’s still the start of the season of course so things still have time to turn around but, at the moment, Farke’s team feels like it doesn’t have much direction.

Sure, some of his new signings still need to be integrated into the squad but until that happens, Leeds’ fans could be in for a rocky ride unless the German can find a way to improve their form.
