Ethan Ampadu on verge of Premier League ban after Leeds vs Aston Villa incident
Ethan Ampadu is now only one yellow card away from a Premier League suspension after the Leeds United captain was booked in the 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa.
There were few positives to come from Sunday’s defeat at Elland Road.
Leeds’ survival chances look even slimmer, with the Peacocks now languishing in the relegation zone.
Therefore, with a difficult set of fixtures ahead for Leeds United, Daniel Farke will need every player available to him if the West Yorkshire club are to get out of this sticky situation.
However, Ampadu may have just made the German’s life considerably harder, with the Welsh international just one yellow card away from a one-match suspension.

Ethan Ampadu needs to avoid a yellow card in the next seven matches
During the 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa, Ampadu made a questionable challenge just after the hour mark.
When Villa were on the counter, the Leeds captain chopped down Youri Tielemans, which prompted the referee to hand the Welshman a yellow card.
This now takes Ampadu’s tally this season in the Premier League up to four yellow cards.
If the defensive midfielder is handed another within the next seven matches, he will be suspended for one game.
Premier League yellow card rules explained
In the Premier League, players need to avoid five yellow cards in their first five matches to prevent a one-match ban.
After the 19th match, the booking requirement for a suspension increases to 10, but if hit, players will receive a two-match ban.
After game 32, the booking requirement for a suspension is increased once again to 15. This lasts until the end of the season, with a three-match ban handed out if hit.
Therefore, Ampadu may struggle to avoid a ban between now and the end of the season, considering his already high booking total.
Hopefully, Farke will be able to guide the Welshman through the next seven matches to ensure that he is not suspended during the busy festive period.
