Ethan Ampadu mural close to completion as Leeds United heroics rewarded

Ethan Ampadu has been a massive part of the success Leeds United have had in recent years.

Last season, Ampadu was integral to Leeds getting promoted from the Championship as he played 29 times.

The versatile midfielder joined the Whites permanently in 2023 from Chelsea, and it didn’t take him long to get Leeds back to where they belong.

Leeds will be hoping Ampadu stays fit all season, after injury worries earlier in the season.

Now, after Ampadu’s fantastic performances and the role he has played for the Whites in recent years, he is set to receive an honour that only the finest of Leeds players get.

Ethan Ampadu to have mural unveiled in Leeds City centre

Under Daniel Farke, Ampadu has mainly featured in a central defensive midfield role, acting as the heartbeat of the Leeds team.

The Welshman has previously been hailed for “brilliant” moments as Ampadu wowed Sky Sports Pundit Andy Hinchcliffe in the Championship last season.

Now, the LUFC Trust shared an image on X, which shows that an Ampadu mural is almost complete, featuring an image of him holding the Championship title.

The mural appears to be opposite Elland Road near Wesley Street, as performances this season have further highlighted the justification of the gesture.

Ampadu has adapted to Premier League football

There were question marks over Ampadu’s ability to translate his qualities over into the Premier League this year.

Leeds are currently sitting 15th in the table, ahead of their game against Brighton on Saturday, as Ampadu in particular has been a big reason why the Whites have three Premier League wins already this season.

Ethan Ampadu’s Premier League stats for Leeds so far this season, according to Sofascore

Ampadu has been a rock for Leeds so far, and has started in all seven of the games that he has featured in for Farke this Premier League campaign.

He is making himself an easy choice in Farke’s lineups, as with him still only 25 years old, Ampadu is only bound to get better for the Whites.

Who knows? When it’s all said on done, Ampadu could be regarded as a Leeds legend.
