Ethan Ampadu in ‘Massive’ Leeds United news straight from Thorp Arch after injury
Daniel Farke will need his Leeds United side to be at the top of their game as they return to Championship action against Swansea City on Saturday.
The international break probably came at a good time for Leeds, who had seen a recent drop in form, having lost their gap at the top of the Championship table.
The break also gave the chance for sidelined players to get back to fitness ahead of the final run-in leading up to the end of the season.

Ethan Ampadu update shared
Ahead of their return to domestic football, Farke provided some positive updates regarding who would be available for Leeds to face Swansea on 29 March.
Leeds’ dip in form ahead of the international break coincided with an injury to Ethan Ampadu, which has seen him sidelined for the past five games.
However, in his pre-match press conference, Farke confirmed that Ampadu is set to be in the match-day squad on Saturday, having been in training throughout the week.
With eight games left to go, having as many members of the squad available as possible will be a massive boost for the boss.
Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Joe Donnohue believes Ampadu’s availability will be crucial, as he wrote on X: “Ampadu in the squad this weekend is massive in the wider context of the run-in.
“[It] adds balance and defensive protection but also gives Farke the opportunity to rest/rotate midfield options as well as be more adventurous with his number 10 pick.”
Farke prepares for Leeds United final run
As Donnohue points out, having Ampadu available is a massive positive for Farke going into the end of the season, as he has been a massive player for the Whites this season when fit enough to play.
With form having suffered before the international break, the German boss has to be prepared to make changes to his side to produce results.
Leeds sit level on points with Sheffield United at the top of the Championship table, but find themselves ahead on goal difference, giving a slight advantage.
Team | Position | Played | Goal Difference | Points |
Leeds United | 1 | 38 | 51 | 80 |
Sheffield United | 2 | 38 | 25 | 80 |
Burnley | 3 | 38 | 41 | 78 |
However, if Farke’s side show the inconsistencies they did before the break, this lead could soon disappear.
The 49ers have made no secret of their aims to get Leeds back into the Premier League, and Farke will know that if the aims are not achieved, his future is likely to be under threat.
There is a massive run of games ahead for the West Yorkshire outfit with no room for error, but with the majority of a quality squad available, Farke will be hoping he has enough to get through it.
