Ethan Ampadu gets new advice from doctors after Leeds United injury news
Leeds United captain Ethan Ampadu has been advised to take a “conservative approach” to his return from a knee injury, according to Graham Smyth.
The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist reported on 7 October that following a serious knee injury expected to rule him out until January 2025 at the earliest, Ampadu has been given the advice by doctors.
Avoiding surgery on the damage inflicted during United’s 3-0 win over Coventry City on 28 September, Ampadu has been told that the slow approach is best for his treatment and rehabilitation.
Leeds United need to learn to win without Ethan Ampadu
No player was more of a constant in Daniel Farke’s side last season than Ampadu, who started all but one of the matches in the German’s maiden campaign and ended the year as captain.
That led to Ampadu being appointed as the Whites’ permanent captain over the summer, but that will now be bestowed to Pascal Struijk following Ampadu’s serious knee injury against Coventry.

In the games since, however, United have drawn away from home to both Norwich and Sunderland, the latter coming in calamitous fashion following Illan Meslier’s last-minute howler.
Earlier in the week, Farke was seen to be happy with a point at Carrow Road towards the end of the second half, after Ampadu’s long-time partner Ilia Gruev was also struck down with injury.
Light on both bodies and confidence in a side which could begin to creak under the pressure, Farke must find a way to close out the tightest of games if United are to be leading the promotion race by the time their captain returns to the fold.
