Espanyol unwilling to allow Leeds United target Raul de Tomas leave on loan

Espanyol are not prepared to allow Leeds United target and striker Raul de Tomas to leave on loan in January, according to Spanish media outlet AS.

The report claims that Juventus want to sign the Spain international on loan this month, but that is unlikely to happen.

It’s also understood that the likes of Arsenal, West Ham and Leicester are also keen on securing his services.

Worth signing?

The Spaniard is 27 and has no experience of playing in the Premier League thus far.

He graduated from Real Madrid’s famed academy and has also gone on to make two appearances for the Spain national team.

A record of scoring in every other game for Espanyol may be impressive, but La Liga is slower compared to the English top flight.

Also, at Leeds, Marcelo Bielsa demands such a great deal from his attacking players, both on and off the ball.

De Tomas is known to be a clutch goal scorer, but the overall aspect of his game is far from impressive.

Had he been any younger, then it could have been a punt worth taking, but as of now, it’s better if Leeds steer clear.

It’s also understood that the club would have to shell out a fee in the region of £27million to snap him up which is not cheap in today’s day and age, especially in January.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay issues a major January update amid recent development that would certainly be exciting for the Elland Road faithful.
