Erling Haaland Leeds United claim made amid ‘Special’ verdict

Eirik Bakke, a former teammate of Erling Haaland’s father, has claimed that the Man City striker would “love” to play for Leeds United one day.

Leeds United have had a solid Championship campaign so far despite lacking the nuance of a striker capable of finding the net on a regular basis.

Haaland would certainly solve that concern and Leeds could have actually signed him before his rise to fame with his Elland Road connection in mind although Bakke has implied it could be a future opportunity in his comments made to Leeds Live (December 16).

“Leeds has got a special place in his (Haaland) heart,” explained Bakke.

“If it wasn’t for Pep Guardiola and Man City, I think he would love to play for Leeds one day. He was born in Leeds. It was a special day when he scored two goals there.”

Erling Haaland would be a decent addition for Leeds United

Quite frankly, Haaland will never play for Leeds. At least not while he is in the prime of his career at the top of world football but his passion towards the club is certainly impressive.

It’s fair to say his currently reported £375,000 per week wages would be somewhat of a stumbling block (Manchester Evening News).

With that said, signing a striker remains one of several priorities for the Whites in January alongside a ‘keeper after Illan Meslier flopped once again.

The signing of a striker capable of scoring 10-15 goals between now and the end of the season could well prove to be the difference between promotion and not and you can only assume the club are aware of that heading into January.

Leeds have every chance of achieving promotion this campaign but January will play a key role in how they go about that and they must do their due diligence ahead of any potential transfers.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites could guarantee promotion by making one signing in January.
