Erling Haaland teases Leeds United fans what could’ve been with wholesome gesture
Erling Haaland went over to acknowledge the Leeds United supporters who travelled to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
Leeds were beaten 3-2 by Manchester City to add further woe to their bleak Premier League survival hopes.
The loss was cruel, as Phil Foden’s late goal cancelled out the Whites come back attempts in the second half.
Daniel Farke is under increasing pressure at Leeds, but there were positives for the Peacocks to take away from the match.
And Haaland, one of the best players in world football, clearly rates and respects the Leeds faithful.

Erling Haaland gestures the Leeds Salute towards away fans
Haaland has spoken about his connection to Leeds, with it being his place of birth, and has been noticed to have a slight Yorkshire twang to his Norwegian accent.
His father, Alfie Haaland, played for the Whites in 2000, which was the year his son was born, and so the former has a natural affection towards the Whites.
- His dad, Alfie Haaland, played for Leeds from 1997 to 2000
- Haaland has been playing for Manchester City since 2022 and has scored 143 times in 164 games
- He has previously stated his wish to win the Premier League with Leeds one day
An X user shared an image that pictures Haaland with a fist on his chest, gesturing the Leeds Salute toward the Peacock Army.
Leeds supporters will be left dreaming of a world in which money wasn’t such a huge factor in football, as Haaland may have been a striker for the Whites in an alternate universe.
Leeds defence keep Haaland at bay but still ship three times
Haaland is one of the best, if not the best, strikers in the world, and he just so happens to come from Leeds.
The Norwegian has only failed to score against four teams in the Premier League this season, with the Whites being one of them.
| Games | Goals |

In a time where positives are hard to come by, Farke and his defence need to take great pride in having kept Haaland from scoring – albeit they did still ship three times.
The German head coach is on thin ice at LS11 and will need a confident defence going into what will be pivotal games.
