Elland Road tram update emerges at Leeds United after latest Peter Lowy meeting

Peter Lowy met with Rachel Reeves last week, during which the Leeds United director discussed funding for a Light Rail system that may benefit Elland Road.

A tram from Leeds station to White Rose, including a stop at Elland Road, was the topic of discussion between the Whites’ chief and the Chancellor of the Exchequer at Number 11, according to BBC Radio Leeds.

Adam Pope reported on 20 February that the investment for the redevelopment plan at LS11 could be much greater than the £650million suggested by Reeves in one of her social media posts.

It remains to be seen how long the proposed plan will take to complete and whether it will have the desired effect in the community and among match-going fans.

49ers Enterprises have Premier League priority at Leeds United

With 49ers Enterprises aiming to develop the West Yorkshire area, Premier League safety in the coming seasons will be high on their agenda.

If Daniel Farke can’t ensure English top-flight survival in the current campaign, the Whites may face funding issues for the redevelopment of the West and North stands to increase Elland Road’s capacity to more than 50,000.

As things stand, the West Yorkshire outfit are 15th in the league table, six points ahead of 18th-place West Ham United.

The Hammers have seen a bit of resurgence in form under Nuno Espirito Santo in recent weeks, and the Peacocks surely aren’t out of danger yet.

While Farke’s team are seen as one of the favourites to avoid relegation after the change in tactics in LS11, the German manager must ensure his side doesn’t take the foot off the gas in the final stretch of the season.

Paraag Marathe can’t afford to repeat Elland Road recruitment strategy

Adam Underwood and Farke have overseen the last two transfer windows, with Leeds disappointing some fans with a lack of investment.

While the transfers of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha have worked out, they were free agents.

The most the Whites spent on one player last summer was the £19.9m package deal to sign Anton Stach from Hoffenheim.

In the winter transfer window, Facundo Buonanotte was the only arrival, signed on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion, but if Paraag Marathe wants to see the German manager make progress at the West Yorkshire outfit, then he arguably needs to put his money where his mouth is.
