Elland Road star urges Nico Schlotterbeck to ‘come to Leeds’ after what happened at Borussia Dortmund

Nico Schlotterbeck has been told to sign for Leeds United in a surprise January message.

Jaka Bijol has picked up an injury at Leeds that could prompt Daniel Farke and Co. to return to the transfer market before deadline day.

The Slovenia international will be a miss and needs replacing in the starting XI, especially if Sebastiaan Bornauw is to depart Leeds this winter.

Axel Disasi has been linked to Leeds previously and may be an option if a centre-back is targeted at Elland Road in the coming days.

Schlotterbeck may now be seen as an option after a social media message from Anton Stach over the weekend.

Anton Stach wants Nico Schlotterbeck at Leeds United

Stach signed for Leeds in the summer and has gone on to make a positive impression in the Premier League so far.

The German has become a regular in the midfield under Farke, with the five-back formation helping to get the best out of the 27-year-old.

His five goal involvements across 19 Premier League appearances is certainly positive in a first spell away from German football.

It looks as if the midfielder is enjoying his time in the Premier League, as he is now encouraging his fellow countrymen to follow in his footsteps.

Schlotterbeck has been met with a “come to Leeds” message from Stach on Instagram, after the centre-back shared images of his celebrations against Union Berlin.

The 26-year-old netted one of three goals for Borussia Dortmund as they secured a 3-0 away win, although it is unclear what prompted the Elland Road star to share such a message.

Schlotterbeck could transform Leeds United

It is almost definitely a tongue-in-cheek message from Stach, but it won’t stop fans from imagining what could be.

The Dortmund man has been one of the most consistent defenders in the Bundesliga over recent years and has been a regular at Westfalenstadion since 2022.

The Bundesliga outfit utilises a back three, similarly to Leeds, and that could help him become a hugely positive asset for the Whites.

That defensive ability and the top-level experience could be what Farke and Leeds need to move up to the next level, in a similar ilk to Granit Xhaka at Sunderland.

It is a complete pipedream, but could the message from Stach point towards a future deal?
